Installation The installation process was a little bit time consuming as motherboard removal is required. Since we are going to install the NT02 on our LGA775 system, there?s no need to remove the stock retention because it doesn?t have a retention bracket. When placing the metal backplate on our motherboard, we noticed that the bracket sits exactly on top of some the solder points located behind the motherboard. Although the metal bracket was padded, I would still not be happy seeing the backplate squeezing the solder points. Using a ?X?shaped backplate should solve this problem, at least for LGA775 motherboards. Whenever we installed the backplate too tight, we had boot-up issues. So, make sure you tighten the backplate softly to prevent any damage to the solder points. Then the backplate was installed by driving screws through it and securing it with the bolts. Thermal paste is then applied and the heatsink mounted. If you are facing the above scenario, simply swap the provided LGA775 mounting and you should have enough clearance for the heatsink. The bolts are tightened to the screw just by using your fingers. Sometimes, things might get a little out of reach if you have a large heatsink blocking your way. If I could use a screw driver, it would be much easier. If you want to control the fan speed (which I think you should), simply install the fan controller in an empty floppy bay and hook it up to the fan. After about 40 minutes, I was pretty satisfied to look at the NT02 sitting inside my rig. The NT02 is certainly one of the more stylish looking CPU coolers out in the market.
