Test System
Before we look at the numbers, here is a brief glance at the testsystem that was used. All testing was done on a fresh install ofWindows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. All benchmarks were completed on thedesktop with no other software programs running. The Intel Core i7 testsystem was run in dual-channel memory mode at 1333MHz with 8-8-8-24memory timings. The ASUS P7P55D-E Premium motherboard was run with BIOS 0106.
A Corsair P64 SSD was the 'boot drive' for the test system and the Seagate XT 2TB drive was used as a secondary drive that could be moved between the two SATA headers that would be tested. Each header was connected to a different controller, so:
- P55 Chipset (The blue header for SATA-II, 3.0 GB/s performance)
- Marvell 9123 Driver 1027 (The white header for SATA 6G, 6.0 GB/s performance)
