Taipei, Dec. 8th, 2004 -- Silicon Integrated Systems Corp (SiS), a leading supplier of core logic chipsets, announced today that its SiS656 Northbridge chipset has passed all PCI-SIG's PCI Express compatibility tests, and has completed co-validation for DDR2-667, DDR2-533 and DDR2-400 memory from Elpida, Micron and Samsung. In the future, SiS will be closely cooperating with these three major memory manufacturers.

The SiS656 Northbridge chipset supports both DDR2-400MHz and DDR2-533MHz, and is the fastest core logic chipset on the market to support DDR2-667 memory. Daniel Chen, President and CEO of SiS said, "DDR2 will inevitably replace DDR as the mainstream memory specification standard, and SiS' R&D team has kept abreast of these latest developments ?we have introduced advanced high-speed memory interfaces to complete the co-validation of SiS656 Northbridge chipset with three major memory manufacturers ?Elpida, Micron and Samsung. The SiS656 Northbridge chip's certification by PCI-SIG is but one example. The SiS656 chipset is the ideal high-performance and high efficiency match for DDR2-667 memory, which creates an unequaled and perfect combination that surpasses new generation technology platforms. "We are extremely pleased with the performance results of all Micron DDR2 SDRAM modules (PC2-3200, PC2-4200, and PC2-5300) in SiS656 platform," said Brett Williams, Micron's DRAM PC Segment Marketing Manager. "Our DDR2 modules utilize our DDR2-400, DDR2-533, and DDR2-667 components to provide high-performance bandwidth levels exceeding 5.3 gigabytes per second. It is exciting to be amongst the first DRAM suppliers to achieve this milestone as DDR2 adoption becomes more widespread in the industry." In the future, Micron will be working closely with SiS to satisfy increasing consumer demands.

Jun-Young Jeon, VP of product planning & application engineering team of memory division in Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, said, " DDR2-400 and 533 are in mass production now, and with finishing this DDR2-667 co-validation, we believe that the memory market will rapidly adopt DDR2-667." High speed DDR2 memory's superiority lies in its low power consumption, is high efficiency and high speeds. The SiS656 Northbridge chipset suitably responds to the high-speed data transmission needs of new generation PCI Express specifications.
