Recently there have not been too many surprises coming from hard drive manufacturers. Ever so often there has been a small tweak or a slight change to specifications but nothing too exciting. The one trend which may be turning some heads is in storage capacity. As time goes on the capacity of the average hard drive is increasing, and the capacity of performance hard drives is simply exploding.

This review will be taking a look at Western Digital's Caviar RE SATA 320GB hard drives (WD3200SD). These drives pack 320GB of storage in a 3.5" SATA drive. It may seem like a lot for a consumer-level hard drive, but in this age of DVD-burning, file-sharing, and 40 GB MP3 players you can't have too much storage space.
