In our previous SLI Power Supply Roundup, we took a look at a few top notch power supplies from leading power supply manufacturers including Antec, SilverStone and Enermax. During the roundup, the TCII-550 unit from Antec grabbed our “Gold Award?for its excellence in voltage stability and overclocker friendly front panel with adjustable voltage controller. Nevertheless SilverStone's flagship model, the Zeus ST65ZF performed respectably well and earned our “Recommended Award?in the roundup. Although the ST65ZF was one of the earliest power supplies to receive NVIDIA's SLI Certification, we found a few unsatisfied customers returning the power supply due to its noisy cooling fan. Even we ourselves find it quite hard to tolerate the ST65ZF's 80mm cooling fan as it is the loudest power supply we have tested.
While SilverStone is still relatively a new player in the power supply industry, they have been listening to our rants and complain. Back in Computex Taipei 2005, SilverStone showcased a glimpse of their upcoming products which includes a few new power supplies and PC casings. Modular power supplies are catching up quick in the case modding and enthusiast market thus it's about time that SilverStone decides to join the party with their newly released Strider ST60F power supply. Featuring a modular cable management system and a quiet 120mm cooling fan, the ST60F pushes a total 600W output and it uses the same but improved core based on the Zeus ST65ZF. In this review, we will take a closer look at yet another NVIDIA SLI Certified power supply; the SilverStone Strider ST60F power supply.
