Graphics cards maker Galaxy Technology is showcasing at Computex Taipei 2006 exhibition its dual-chip graphics cards that carry two GeForce 7900 GT or GeForce 7600 GT graphics processors designed by the company. While the boards do not allow arranging an array of four graphics chips due to absence of the appropriate connectors, they may seem interesting for computer enthusiasts.

By showcasing the graphics cards, Galaxy announced its new series of boards called Masterpiece, which employs the best-quality components and functions beyond the specs set by the developer of the graphics processing units (GPUs), namely Nvidia Corp. The first two boards in the series are Galaxy Masterpiece dual-GeForce 7600 GT and dual-GeForce 7900 GT graphics cards, which are both pre-overclocked a bit.

Galaxy Masterpiece dual-GeForce 7900 GT features large print-circuit board (PCB), but this is not a dual-PCB device, such as the GeForce 7950 GX2 or the GeForce 7900 GX2 products. Still, the graphics card is pretty long and tall, which means that users would still experience some difficulties when installing it. That said, its market prospects are unclear, as the GeForce 7900 GX2 proposed as a reference design by Nvidia fits almost any computer case and offers performance similar to a couple of GeForce 7900 GT-based graphics cards in SLI mode.

Galaxy Masterpiece dual-GeForce 7600 GT features two mainstream chips from Nvidia, which essentially should give users performance somewhat higher compared to the GeForce 7900 GT, which retails for about $299. Theoretically, two GeForce 7600 GT-based graphics boards would cost more than $300, however, pricing of the dual-GeForce 7600 GT remains unclear.

The manufacturer did not tell anything about the pricing of its products to final users and also did not reveal when the novelties are expected to be available in the retail. However, the showcase underlines the intention of Galaxy to become a maker of high-end exclusive graphics cards, such as Asus, Gigabyte or MSI, who are known for extraordinary products.
