Nvidia Corp., a leading supplier of graphics technologies, Wednesday refreshed its lineup of performance-mainstream and high-end graphics processing units (GPUs) to offer better performance to customers seeking for graphics upgrades this Fall.

?These new GeForce 7 Series GPUs are designed to deliver an extreme high-definition gaming and video experience at prices any gamer can afford. Gamers can now get more performance and features at these popular price points than ever before,?said Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop GPUs at Nvidia.

Two new products are the GeForce 7900 GS, which will be available in the price-range between $199 and $249 as well as GeForce 7950 GT, which will be priced between $299 and $249. Both are designed to fit into computers with PCI Express x16 slot and both can work in multi-GPU tandem using scalable link interface technology.

The GeForce 7900 GS is a cut-down flavour of the code-named G71 graphics processor, it features 20 pixel processors, 7 vertex processors and 256-bit memory bus. Graphics cards carrying the 7900 GS moniker will clock GPU at 450MHz and will feature 256MB of GDDR3 memory at 1.32GHz.

The GeForce 7950 GT is also based on the G71 chip and offers performance level that fits between the models 7900 GT and the 7900 GTX. The GeForce 7950 GT chip has 24 pixel processors and 8 vertex processors. The graphics card will come clocked at 550MHz for the chip and 1400MHz for the memory, as compared to GeForce 7900 GTX's 650MHz/1.6GHz clock-speeds and GeForce 7900 GT's 450MHz/1.32GHz. Nvidia recommends its partners to install 512MB of memory onboard the 7950 GT.

The release of powerful offerings at popular price-points will allow Nvidia to solidify its market share in the high-end, which poses threats to earnings of its arch-rival ATI Technologies.

Nvidia claims that ?some of the world's leading add-in card partners?are offering graphics cards based on the new Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS and GeForce 7950 GT GPUs already.
