With LCD prices having seen massive drops over the past few months and many consumer's looking to upgrade from their old LCDs, we find ourselves in a situation where a 20" widescreen is the new 17" LCD. This means that 20" widescreens are now affordable, generally offer a great deal of value, and are readily available- none of these were true a year ago.
Just as when 17 inchers were all the rage it was possible to jump to a 19" instead and get the same resolution but a larger screen area, the same thing is being done today between 20" and 22" models. Both of these widescreen sizes run at a generous 1680x1050 but 22" units are generally easier on the viewer's eyes because the image is larger. .
This review will be looking at Viewsonic's VX2235WM, a 22" widescreen monitor that is currently available for under $300 from Geeks.com. The VX2235WM is one of Viewsonic's VX series which has been popular with enthusiasts and have great specs despite their reasonable prices. In the past we have reviewed the VX2025wm and the VX924, both of which performed quite well, though prices have dropped considerably since then. VX2235WM uses a slightly different design from the other VX models were checked out in the past, but still has very strong specifications and a price tag that is very easy on the wallet.
