Lets start with what the A8N-SLI Premium has going for itself. The layout of the board is excellent- amongst the best we’ve seen for an nForce4 SLI motherboard. We like how ASUS keeps the gap between the two PCI-E x16 slots and the lack of the SLI bridge is how it should be on all nForce4 boards. There’s also reasonable room for expansion with seven slots in total although we doubt that you’ll need to use many of them considering the number on onboard options on this board. We do wish that ASUS had made this board as their aiLife series which includes the flexible SLI connector and the optional WiFi TV Tuner card.

Looking at the previous few pages, the performance is also pretty decent on the AN8-SLI Premium and comparable to other nF4 boards. The reason why we have slightly higher scores on graphics benchmarks on this ASUS board is because of the newer nVidia display driver. We also like the heat pipe idea which certainly kept the nF4 chip cool and while overclocking wasn’t the highest we’ve achieved to date, it was pretty good and definitely much better than ASUS?previous SLI board. Overall, the AN8-SLI Premium is probably the best nForce4 SLI board that we’ve tested.
