Features:
As we pointed out earlier, just because it’s a small player it doesn’t mean it lacks features, and you’ll soon see why. The OLED display is one of the major positives, as navigating through menus, altering configurations and tweaking the player to your liking would be dismal without a bright screen. With a player this size, OLED was possibly the best option and we commend MobiBLU for that. The WMA, which stands for Digital Rights Management and prevents piracy, is also integrated. You would now be able to purchase WMA encoded music and playback via the 1500i. Even if this option wasn’t supported initially, it would’ve only taken a mere firmware upgrade to enable it, but we are glad it’s available right out of the box. The DAH-1500i can also act as a USB 2.0 thumb drive, which isn’t exactly a unique feature, but something to look forward to.
Moving on, standard features such as FM radio receiver and recorder and voice recorder are also added to an array of options. Five preset equalizer options including Normal, Jazz, Rock, Pop, and Classic are also there. Furthermore, you can even customize a single equalizer configuration based on your preference. Amazingly, MobiBLU has also integrated WOW technology. We were first introduced to this technology with Samsung’s flash based players (although other manufacturers might’ve implemented it before Samsung). The concept behind WOW technology is to give it a 3D surround sound effect with heavy bass. Though we were skeptical at first, we must say the difference between regular stereo and stereo + WOW is exceptional. If you prefer a wholesome sound effect, this is definitely the technology to look forward to.
Despite the limited storage options (either 512MB or 1GB), you get unlimited folder capacity and a smooth navigation system to weave through albums and playlists. This is a great option for those of you who like to organize albums by artists, genres or other methods to make searching as hassle-free as possible. With everything else, the 1500i is also equipped with a built-in clock, which is a nice bonus, but not something you necessarily need due to wristwatches and cell phones.
Unfortunately for the DAH-1500i, the battery life is only 10 hours (we tested it to be just a bit over 10 hours, so MobiBLU is right with its approximation). With competitive flash players pulling in 40-50 hours of battery life, 10 hours isn’t all that impressive.
The accessories include an A/C charger, necklace style earphones, USB/charging cable, finger strap, cube crate protective case (shields the unit with a rubberized exterior to prevent it from falling and malfunctioning), user’s manual and a program CD.
While the list of features is a long one, the battery life isn’t something we are too thrilled about.
