Our Pentium EE 840 comes with a powerful “turbo-charged?stock cooler that runs at an amazing 5160 RPM, which sounds like a jet! Ambient temperatures were recorded at between 27.3ºC to 28ºC throughout the tests. The heatsinks will go through TWO tests basically Idle Test and Load Test. The system was left idling for 30 minutes where idle temperature reading were taken. Then we loaded up TWO instance of Prime95 torture test for another 30 minutes to load (heat) up the system for load results. All fans were set to maximum achievable temperatures unless mentioned. All heatsinks and coolers will be tested with Arctic Silver Ceramique thermal paste. Additionally, the new Freezer 7 Pro will be tested with the stock pre-applied MX-1 thermal paste. To simulate real-world usage, all heatsinks and coolers will be tested in a full tower ATX case (SilverStone TJ05) with side panels installed.
Additionally, the Coolink U8-120-1600 will be tested with a slightly powerful fan made by NMB (model 4715KL-04W-B19) which pushes about 70 CFM at 2220 RPM. The second picture shows the size of the Coolink U8-120-1600 when compared to Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Let’s see if the Coolink U8-120-1600 can hold up with the rest.
Clearly the Coolink U8-120-1600 was the best among the bunch but the results were even impressive with our NMB 120mm fan. While the stock fan kept the idle temperatures at 36C, the NMB fan allowed the cooler to keep the idle temperatures at only 32C. Load temperatures were also impressive as it managed to surpass the Intel Stock cooler which spins at an amazing 5160 RPM. The Coolink cooler kept the CPU at 60C under full load and performed admirably with the NMB fan at only 54C. Our NMB fan reveals the true potential of the U8-120-1600 cooler so we think Coolink should seriously consider including a fan that is capable to push at least 70 CFM.
