Conclusion and Final Thoughts
Scythe is known for making affordable coolers that perform. Although the Mugen 2 didn¡¯t fare so well on our overclocked system, it did do nicely with the system at stock settings. The Mugen 2 would be great for someone who is not into overclocking and is looking to replace their stock cooler for something that will be quiet and drop the system temps. Overall I am happy with the Mugen 2. Other than prying the stock LGA1366 backing plate off it was very easy to install.
At this time you can pick up a Mugen 2 for $34.99 plus shipping. In time where money is tight, lower is always better. The only other cooler in the test close to the same price is the Spire ThermaxII, and it cannot be setup to be run in a multi fan configuration. Even with the cost of another Slipstream fan the Mugen 2 would still cost under $45.
Legit Bottom Line: The Scythe Mugen 2 from Scythe is a good bang for the buck; just measure your case before you order.
