The results show how the LGA1156 platform bridges the performance gap between Intel's LGA1366 platform and AMD's Phenom II platform. Compared to LGA1366 with the entry-level Core i7 920, LGA1156 is faster in most tests due to the entry-level Core i7 860 having a slightly faster frequency. LGA1366 wins in the memory bandwidth benchmarks due to having a triple channel memory interface versus the dual channel memory interface but as we know and see, overall CPU frequency is the winner in non-bandwidth benchmarks. Another important comparison is between the AM3 Asus Crosshair III benchmarks and the P55 benchmarks in 3DMark Vantage and 3DMark 2006. Even though the P55 platform is 400MHz slower than the AMD AM3 platforms, the GPU scores are quite close.
