Bringing the Solutions Together Provides Customers with a Simple, Standards-Based Push-Button Approach for the Installation of Wi-Fi Equipment and Configuration of Wireless Security

UK 11th January 2005 - Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced its patent-pending AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSST) now includes SecureEasySetupTM software by BroadcomR. Both solutions are designed to offer customers a push-button approach to simplifying the installation of Wi-Fi equipment and effortless configuration of wireless security.

Buffalo introduced its AOSST technology in 2003 and has since developed a full suite of AOSS-enabled wireless solutions. AOSST provides users with automatic set up of a secure wireless network with the push of a button. The technology instantly detects and configures other AOSST enabled devices and seamlessly creates a secure connection based on the highest level of encryption available including WPA2 - the latest and most powerful security standard for wireless networks. AOSST will also support future security standards. Additionally, AOSST supplies every client with four keys: WEP64, WEP128, TKIP and AES so they can switch security protocols if necessary to accommodate other wireless connections. AOSST is also compatible with IntelR CentrinoT mobile technology.

"Buffalo has experienced great success with its AOSS-enabled wireless solutions because it removes the traditional hassle of installing a wireless network and configuring wireless security. Broadcom's SecureEasySetup technology nicely complements AOSST and our goal to simplify and enhance our customers' wireless experience," stated Gerardine Lynch, Product Marketing Manager, Buffalo Technology. "By supporting SecureEasySetup, Buffalo is offering its customers the best of both worlds. We are providing an additional method of simplifying Wi-Fi set-up that is compatible with other vendors' SES based products."

SecureEasySetup is push-button setup technology recently introduced by BroadcomR that also automates the process of configuring the network and activating WPA security. BroadcomR is the Wi-Fi industry's largest silicon supplier and by including SecureEasySetup in its AOSST technology, Buffalo broadens the number of platforms that can join a single network with the push of a button.

"Buffalo is a leading innovator in home networking solutions. We are excited that new wireless networking solutions by Buffalo will include support for SecureEasySetup," stated Jeff Abramowitz, Senior Director of Marketing at BroadcomR. "Together we can offer end users the total Wi-Fi simplified solution, combining ease-of-use with the highest level of wireless security."

"Solutions such as Buffalo's AOSST technology are revolutionizing wireless ease-of-use," stated Ken Furer, Research Analyst at IDC.
"SecureEasySetup support would expand the universe of products that are compatible with both cutting edge setup technologies."

Buffalo's suite of AOSS-enabled solutions includes its AirStation G54 and 125* High Speed Mode wireless solutions. The new Wireless LinkStation Network Storage Center and LinkTheater High Definition Wireless Media Player also include AOSS technology. Buffalo will continue to build upon its line of AOSS-enabled solutions and expand its relationships with other leading consumer electronic manufacturers. By adding SecureEasySetup support, Buffalo will gain additional compatibility with devices from leading PC and consumer electronics manufacturers such as printers, digital cameras and DVD players as Broadcom expects to integrate its SecureEasySetup technology into these devices.

Buffalo's products featuring both AOSST and SecureEasySetup will be available February 2005. For more information about Buffalo Technology and its products, please visit the company's Web site at http://www.buffalo-technology.com.

* When operating in High-Speed ModeT, this Wi-Fi device achieves an actual throughput of up to 34.1Mbps, which is the equivalent throughput of a system following 802.11g protocol and operating at a signaling rate of 125Mbps.
