SUNNYVALE, CA - February 1, 2005 - Spansion LLC, the Flash memory subsidiary of AMD (NYSE:AMD) and Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702), announced today that Underwriters Laboratories Inc., an independent, not-for-profit product-safety testing and certification organization, has certified all of its Flash memory design, development and manufacturing facilities around the world to the stringent ISO/TS 16949:2002 worldwide automotive quality management system specification.

ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification means that Spansion is officially compliant with one of the most demanding sets of quality management system specifications in the world for suppliers to the automotive industry. The 2002 revision includes the ISO 9001:2000 standard, plus additional automotive sector requirements. It was prepared by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) and Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association, Inc. (JAMA), with support from ISO/TC 176, Quality Management and Quality Assurance.

"Spansion's commitment to quality and reliability is evidenced by its company-wide certification to the challenging ISO/TS 16949:2002 specification," said Gene Daszko, Director of Customer Quality Engineering for Spansion. "Many companies choose not to pursue this certification simply because the standards are so high. Spansion succeeded because we are more than just a vendor for our customers: We are a trusted supplier and key strategic partner."

This new certification represents the first time that he entire global Spansion organization, including all of the company's Flash memory fabs, design and engineering centers, and final assembly sites, has achieved the same certification across the board. Previously, Spansion had been certified to ISO/TS 16949:2002 for only certain facilities and selected portions of its product lines.

About the ISO/TS 16949:2002 Specification

ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a technical specification that, in conjunction with ISO 9001:2000, defines the quality management system requirements for the design and development, production and, when relevant, installation and service of automotive-related products.
