The fires are once again being ignited

According to the Inquirer, NVIDIA has started taping out its new G70 silicon. G70 is their next-generation GPU, designed to compete head-to-head with ATI's flagship R520.

Whispers say that it's in good shape and that the first silicon is up and running nicely. Our pro-Nvidia sources believe that it will end up faster than ATi's R520, but ATiers will pooh-pooh that claim, for sure.

We don't have much information about specifics but we strongly believe that the G70 will be released very close to the R520's shipping date.

I can't say how people manage to make predictions as to which un-released and un-spoken-of product will be faster, but I'll be honest and say that I'm looking forward to both products quite eagerly. In all honesty, whoever has the better AGP card wins my heart, as I'm still stuck in AGP land back at home.
