Top memory module manufacturer OCZ Technology has announced its new PC-4800 Platinum Elite Edition memory modules for enthusiasts and overclockers. While the company already has 600MHz DDR products in the lineup, the new modules require lower voltage, which may indicate better overclocking potential. Furthermore, the new modules use Samsung TCCD chips, well-known among overclockers and enthusiasts.

?Due to the popular demand for TCCD ICs OCZ has decided to release a new product using improved speed grading to cater to the detailed requirements of enthusiasts,?said Dr. Michael Schuette, Director of Technology Development at OCZ Technology.

OCZ's PC4800 Platinum Elite Edition memory modules are rated to operate at 600MHz with CL2.5 4-4-10 latency settings, the most aggressive in the industry for the 600MHz DDR speed-bin; or at 400MHz with CL2 2-2-5 settings. The modules require 2.80V memory voltage, 0.5V lower compared to the previous PC4800 EL DDR Platinum Limited Edition products. 2.85V is higher than the absolute majority of mainboards with 184-pin DIMM slots can support, while 2.80V is provided by almost any advanced mainboard.

?Each and every Elite Edition module will feature specific ICs and will undergo an advanced screening process to pick only the best within the lot and satisfy our customers needs even beyond the foundry's specs,?Mr. Schuette added.

OCZ provides lifetime warranty on its PC-4800 Platinum Elite Edition memory modules and even guarantees that they will not malfunction with up to 3.0V voltage setting.

The modules will be available in 512MB versions as well as 1GB dual-channel kits. Pricing is unknown.
