Pigs fly

Conservative Mac zealots were served a blow when Apple announced they'd be switching to x86 processors in 2006, and now Apple has done it again by releasing a multi-button mouse. The Mighty Mouse sports a total of four buttons, a "Scroll Ball", and touch-sensitive circuitry that detects whether you meant to left-click or right-click on the single clamshell upper-body. Here's the corresponding iHype snippet:

In the beginning, there was one button. Then there were two. Then there were clickable scroll wheels and programmable toggles and solid-state slides. But nobody made a mouse as easy to use as your Mac. Until now. Mighty Mouse combines the capability of a multibutton mouse with Apple's signature top-shell design for the best of both form and function. Use it any way you work: Stick with single-button simplicity or click with multibutton efficiency.

By God, I hate you Apple. I know this is just a simple 4-button mouse with a fancy scroll ball and touch-sensitive buttons and all, but for some reason I'm lured into it. Apple is an excellently-skilled drug dealer. I just about bought one right now until my girlfriend talked me out of it. I'll wait until the end of the week for some quick two-paragraph reviews to come in.
