NVIDIA Corp. may be gearing up to launch its new mobile graphics processing unit (GPU) called GeForce Go 7300 shortly, as ASUTeK Computer introduced Monday its new series of widescreen computers featuring the part. The systems come in standard chassis for multimedia laptops and do not resemble so-called desktop replacement notebooks that employ desktop-class graphics cores.
ASUSTeK Computer said it introduced 15.4?widescreen A6Vm and A6Km family of notebooks and called the new models ?the world's first notebooks?to adopt NVIDIA's latest GeForce Go 7300GPU ?for incredible 3D graphics performance?
The notebook maker provides no indications about the exact level of performance, such as scores in popular Futuremark's 3DMark benchmarks. The manufacturer also does not suggest any specifications for the GeForce Go 7300, but says the part will support TurboCache technology that allows system memory to act as frame-buffer and will be equipped with 128MB of memory. It is even unknown whether the GeForce Go 7300 would be installed using NVIDIA's MXM module or using flip-chip graphics processor.
NVIDIA Corp.'s representatives did not unveil specs of the forthcoming product, nor confirmed its name, but said that the notebooks will receive a ?powerful?graphics platform.
?By adding a GeForce Go 7-series mobile GPU, it's clear that these notebooks have been designed to provide users a powerful processing platform with all the 3D and video capabilities of a true Multimedia Notebook,?said Rob Csongor, general manager of notebook GPUs at NVIDIA.
ASUS A6Vm notebook is based on Intel Centrino mobile platform and employs the latest Intel 915PM core-logic along with Intel Pentium M 700-series processors. The laptop may be equipped with up to 1GB of PC2-4300 memory as well as up to 100GB hard disk drive. ASUS A6Km is powered by AMD Turion 64 mobile processor, an unknown core-logic and may be equipped with up to 1GB of PC2700 memory and up to a 100GB HDD. Both laptops come equipped with 802.11a/b/g wireless network controllers, 1Gb Ethernet, advanced audio, built-in 1.3M webcam, Bluetooth connectivity and so on. The laptops?weight is 2.85Kg.
