Google Inc., a leading search engine, is rumoured to introduce its own personal computer (PC) that is expected to run its own operating system during a keynote of co-founder Larry Page during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). While the web is flooded with the rumours, no one exactly knows that the Google PC and the OS will look like.

Los Angeles Times news-paper cites its sources as saying that Google had been in negotiations with Wal-Mart Stores, among other retailers, to sell a Google PC. The machine would run an operating system created by Google, not Microsoft's Windows, which is why it is expected to cost around $200.

Among the most logical assumptions are those that claim the Google PC to run a Linux-like operating system that will offer easy access to the 20 services that Google provides as well as with pre-installed 10 tools that Google offers today. In addition to that, Google PC may be bundled with some sort of office software as well as media playback software. The main intention of the Google PC should be popularization of Google's services and tools, however, to attract attention to them, Google will have to offer some conventional functionality as well.

Currently it is unknown what hardware will Google PC utilize.

Google did not comment on the news-story.
