Asustek Computer, a large maker of computer components, and Automobili Lamborghini, a maker of luxury sport cars, announced partnership under which Asus will produce a series of notebooks that will mimic design of the legendary automobile.

?The new ASUS Lamborghini Notebook Series, a fusion of the best from both companies, will surely provide a different mobile computing experience. With unique mobile technology from ASUS and Lamborghini's cutting-edge industrial designs, the all-new notebooks provide a breath of fresh air to the boring looks of existing portable PCs,?said Tony Chen, director of Asus notebook business.

Asustek's Lamborghini notebooks will be available in yellow and black colours and inherit design fusion of one of the world's most advanced sport cars.

While Asus was tight-lipped regarding specifications of the Lamborghini notebook series, it is highly-likely that the new product family will feature the newly introduced Intel Centrino mobile platform featuring Intel Core (Yonah) processors with one or two cores. Pricing of such laptop is unknown.

Intel Corp. and Automobili Lamborghini announced in October last year that the two companies would be collaborating on a number of projects. One of the first such projects was expected to be a Lamborghini branded laptop PC, based on the Intel Centrino platform. The first Lamborghini notebooks would become available for all fans of the Lamborghini brand in 2006, the companies indicated.

Asus Lamborghini notebooks are likely to feature state-of-the-art-components from both Asus and Intel and are likely to be positioned against Acer Ferrari notebooks that traditionally feature processors from Advanced Micro Devices, who is a sponsor of Ferrari Formula 1 team.
