The eVGA 790i FTW Digital
The first eVGA FTW board garnered a lot of snickers when it was announced. Even I wondered what eVGA was thinking by using the "FTW" term for a motherboard. When the 790i FTW launched, these snickers were silenced with the performance and quality brought to the table. Compared to the XFX 790i Ultra SLI and the Asus Striker II NSE, the eVGA 790i SLI FTW was a lower cost option while offering nearly identical performance. Now eVGA has taken their top of the line motherboard and added Digital Power Management(Digital PWM - Pulse Width Modulation), while maintaining a modest price compared to its competition. With improved voltage stability and efficiency the nForce 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM is the new flagship motherbaord for EVGA.
When the EVGA 790i SLI FTW Digital PWM motherboard was released just two weeks ago it took many in the industry by suprise. The 790i SLI FTW Digital is based off a modified reference design with many improved features such as three PCIe 2.0 x16 expansion slots, stronger PWM, and a 100% use of solid capacitors. One non-physical but important change was the introduction of a brand new BIOS that separates it from the 790i SLI Ultra. Now that we know that the main enhancement is Digital Power Management lets take a closer look at what the board has to offer.
