In addition to being a design marvel, Logitech wanted this desktop to be for laptop users who are always on the go. This is why the $149 kit comes with one of it coolest features, the detached media pad, and also one of its worst, the oversized laptop mouse.
Pictured above is the diNovo's detached number pad. Basically the first of its kind, the pad allows the user to had a full keyboard while not being concerned with size constraints because the pad uses RF to communicate to the USB dongle. This means that the pad can be used without the keyboard, for example if you were taking your laptop on a trip with you. This way you would have a full number pad, a portable mouse, and your laptop's keyboard- basically all the conviences of a desktop.
This floating pad has a number of things that set it apart from a standard one. First of all it can be shut off when you are not using it. Secondly, it hsa a number of media controls, namely Volume Up, Volume Down, Mute, a media player hot key, and then your primary media controls (Play/Pause, FF, Rewind, Stop). These two sets of controls are identical to the ones on the upper left and bottom left of the main keyboard.
If all this was not enough to impress you, at the touch of a button the pad changes into a calculator, using the on board LCD screen! That is why the number pad has a "000" key, something which does not normally appear on keyboards. When not in calculator mode the screen displays the date, time, and ambient temperature.
