Controls, Inputs and Outputs:

As stated above, the controls are simply a volume and bass knobs located on the subwoofer. There are no controls on the satellites, which make the satellites free of unnecessary nuisances, but it does pose issues to the usability factor of the subwoofer. We understand that this is a sensitive price point and the omission of controls on the satellites will more than likely not upset gamers, but when the system is a distance away it becomes annoying to reach under the desk to turn the subwoofer knobs. Regardless, the system volume can be adjusted from within Windows, so this is not much of a major problem.

Product Analysis:

Altec Lansing XA2021 Review

The speakers, subwoofer and all hardware accessories appear to be quite handsome in basic black color schematics, in return allowing the speaker system to poise a more professional appeal. The subwoofer is made of wood-like material and is substantial in weight, which also makes it durable enough for forceful usage patterns.

The satellites tilt on their stands, so it is easy to aim them toward your ears. The styling is a hybrid between modern and retro looks; a trendy interface, nonetheless. Overall, the speakers are diminutive enough to insert out of the way, but still house a 3" driver for stable audio frequencies. The speaker wiring is also long enough (approximately 6" per speaker) to reach either side of your desk or entertainment center with ease.

As stated earlier, the subwoofer houses all controls and connections in the famous Altec Lansing style (color-coded connections and ports). There are a quantity of pleasant touches, such as a headphone jack for late night gaming and the auxiliary input for your MP3 or CD player. The power cord is hardwired into the subwoofer, so you will not have any power adapters to deal with.
