Remote ControlOnce again, the X-Micro surprises for such an inexpensive player, in that it comes with a remote control. Unlike normal remotes that allow play, pause and skip functions to be selected, the EVAs remote is a dedicated FM radio player. For a larger player, not having control over the MP3 songs would be annoying, but for such a small player, the EVA will more likely be round your neck anyway rather than in a bag or pocket. The radio controls are very simple, with Scan moving on to the next radio station and reset taking you back to the lowest frequency. Amusingly you can listen to MP3s at the same time as the radio, which could make for a unique, if unattractive listening experience. The radio remote runs off its own battery as well, so you can listen to it totally independently from the player should you so desire.
In terms of quality, the headphones supplied with the player are a little wanting, though no worse than the headphones Sony supply with their walkmans (not as high praise as you might assume). Swapping them for some Sennheisers really brought the Eva to life, with it being capable of very crisp, clear sound quality. Whilst it isn?t going to displace the Creative players in sound quality, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference with anything but the best headphones. Overall the sound quality of the Eva is very good, with even picky buyers likely to be pleased.
