MSI's Dynamic Overclocking Technology (D.O.T)
MSI's proprietary overclocking utility ?Dynamic Overclocking Technology, is also found on the NX7800GTX-VT2D256E. This unique feature is to enable users to overclock the card by a predetermined amount, ranging from 2 ?10% of the default clock speed. End-users have to first install the D.O.T software (provided on the MSI driver disc) before this can be enabled. Most importantly, while MSI does not promise that every card can be overclocked to the maximum D.O.T, any damage to the graphics card from using D.O.T is covered by the warranty.
We easily managed the highest D.O.T setting of 10%, which is equivalent to the card operating at 473/1320MHz. At this speed, the MSI card became one of the fastest GeForce 7800 GTX cards we have tested so far, taking over the performance crown from the Leadtek card with a lead of 4 ?5%. While not all D.O.T capable cards can operate at the highest D.O.T settings, we feel that the GeForce 7800 GTX has no problems handling this considering our over overclocking trials conducted on a few cards of this class. Hence, you should stand a good chance of enabling the highest D.O.T setting for the MSI NX7800GTX-VT2D256E.
