Abit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI BIOS and SummaryThe Abit uses an Award based BIOS that will be instantly recognisable to anyone who has used one of their products in the last few years. All of the relevant overclocking options are in the top uGuru section, including frequency and voltage options. DRAM configuration is found within advanced properties, so everything is pretty much as you would expect. The Fatal1ty is clearly a board designed for overclocking, with the board allowing a CPU voltage of up to 1.85V, a maximum V-Dimm of 3.55V and adjustable FSB all the way up to 410MHz. All of the motherboards fans can be controlled by the BIOS, and can even be set to activate when a particular temperature rises above your designated threshold. Say for instance you only want the OTES fans to activate after the PWM temperature hits 50 degrees; you can set this up within seconds.
The Abit is without doubt a quality product, but not one that will appeal to everyone. The wealth of overclocking features does come at a price to the feature set, and for the money you might expect an extra RAID controller and a few more legacy connectors. Nevertheless, that isn?t really the Abit?s target audience. It would be like criticizing a Ferrari for its small luggage space and lack of back seats. For overclockers, the Abit allows a stable operation at voltages and speeds that most other boards cant compete with and thus comes highly recommended.
