New mobile IGP chipset features advanced graphics and display engine with support for cutting-edge power saving technologies to enable the next generation of more mobile AMD64 processor-based notebooks for digital lifestyles on the go

Taipei, Taiwan, 25 February 2005 - VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, today announced the VIA K8N800A, a high-performance, low-power IGP chipset optimized for the upcoming AMD Turion?64 mobile technology, as well as the complete range of Mobile AMD Athlon?64 and Mobile AMD Sempron?processors.

Delivering all the performance, connectivity and advanced power management needed for next generation thin and light, high-performance notebooks, the VIA K8N800A would be ideally suited to support notebook PCs powered by the forthcoming AMD Turion?64 mobile technology. The powerful AMD64 platform combined with VIA's acclaimed chipset, graphics and digital media technologies affords an exceptional computing and entertainment experience anywhere.

The VIA K8N800A chipset features the S3 Graphics UniChrome Pro Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP), providing outstanding dual pipeline graphics performance through a 128-bit 2D/3D engine and shared DDR memory support for 3D gaming and applications, while the Chromotion CE Video Display Engine blends hardware-based MPEG-2 decoding acceleration for flawless digital video playback with advanced display technologies for enhanced video rendering and a rich visual experience. Furthermore, support for an external AGP 8X port allows optional graphics processor upgrades on supporting notebooks.
