Testing costs forecast to rise 20% due to limited capacity
Although DDR2 production is supposed to ramp up this year, it does not look like production capacity is going to be the main concern.?Instead, it will be testing and validation and apparently that will be strained and accordingly, this means that prices are going up.
Prices for DDR2 testing may rise 20% next quarter amid strong demand for the segment, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daily News.
In addition, Powertech Technology has already increased its DDR2 testing prices to NT$15,000-18,000 per hour, up from about NT$13,000, D.K. Tsai, chairman and CEO of Powertech, was quoted by the paper as saying.
