More PSP consoles to be made available at launch than expected, will it be enough?Sony Computer Entertainment is confident that they will be able to ship no less than one million PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld consoles to retail when the PSP finally launches in North America this March 24th.?Assuming SCE us able to make good on this statement when the appointed hour arrives, this?hopefully) might make things a bit easier?for early-adopters itching to be one of the first on their block to get their hands on the console later this month.
"Sony Computer Entertainment of America had previously said 1 million PSPs would be manufactured for North America by March 31, but it acknowledged many of those units would be spread around the supply chain, from factories to distribution to warehouses. The PSP launched in Japan last December and remains in extremely limited supply there, having shipped nearly 1.2 million units to date. Sony maintained its forecast for shipping 3 million PSPs worldwide by the end of its fiscal year in March."
Any boost in projected shipment allotment for launch day is certainly welcome, but we wouldn't count on the larger PSP batch meeting the demand so easily.?Consoles almost always find some way to make themselves chase items when they first launch.?If you're PSP hungry, get into the pre-order mood assuming you haven't done so already just to be on the safe side.
