March 7, 2005, Taipei - As the first world-leading memory maker to pass the DDR-II module certification of Intel Laboratory Taiwan when the product was first introduced to the market, TwinMOS Technologies Inc has completed the R&D of DDRII-533 SO-DIMM for the brand new Sonoma platform?the next generation Centrino platform Napa, comprising the Calistoga chipset and the next generation wireless LAN technology Golan, to be introduced into the market at the end of 2005. Moreover, TwinMOS Technologies is validating the compatibility of the Calistoga chipset of Napa in cooperation with Intel.

While high-speed-transfer is the target of DDRII technology, in addition to following the JEDEC specifications, TwinMOS Technologies has designed the DDRII-533 SO-DIMM for Intel's Sonoma platform in accordance with the 4-bit Prefetch architecture of DDRII specification in order to burst transfer bandwidth to 4.3GB/sec. Secondly, TwinMOS Technologies has extensively reduced the power consumption of the product to 1.8V to lower the overall power consumption of notebook PCs and thereby extend the battery life. Thirdly, the ODT (On Die Termination) technology can reduce noise interference to enhance data accuracy by maintaining the waveform of signals. The OCD (Off Chip Driver) technology can improve the integrity of data transfer signals. Together with TwinMOS ISO9001/ISO14001-accredited processes, the DDRII-533 SO-DIMM from TwinMOS Technologies is both performance- and quality-assured.

As TwinMOS Technologies has been the major DRAM module supplier of world-leading system manufacturers, all DDRII modules from TwinMOS Technologies have been mass-produced with lead-free processes as a response to the global lead-free process campaign. TwinMOS Technologies also requests PCB, die and soldering material suppliers to follow the standards and requirements of Europe, the USA, Japan and China.
