ATI Technologies said Tuesday it has expanded its family of multimedia graphics cards with All-In-Wonder X800 XL. The new addition is designed for both U.S. and European customers and provides both relatively high performance in 3D games as well as multimedia capabilities.
?This is the year consumers embrace PCI Express high-quality performance and ATI is ready to deliver leading multimedia solutions for those consumers. As a global company, ATI is working hard to meet the needs of multimedia computer users around the world with examples like SCART and DVB-T support for Europe. ATI delivers outstanding innovative multimedia video products, such as All-In-Wonder X800 XL, that transform the PC into a global entertainment solution,?said Paul Lypaczewski, Vice-President & General Manager, Multimedia Business Unit, ATI Technologies Inc.
ATI's All-In-Wonder X800 XL features ATI's latest TV-Tuner, which is based on RF technology from Microtune and can receive up to 125 PAL and SECAM channels in addition to FM radio, additionally, the set of connectors also includes SCART support for customers in Europe, as well as THEATER 200 chip that handles Video-in, Video-out features.
For European customers, All-In-Wonder X800 XL PCI Express will enable analog TV reception along with reception of Digital Video Broadcasting for Terrestrial (DVB-T) television transmissions. DVB-T is becoming the major form of TV broadcast transmissions in Europe. It offers more channels and delivers a better picture and sound quality through a conventional antenna instead of a cable or satellite dish connection, ATI said.
The latest All-In-Wonder is also supplied with new ATI RemoteWonder Plus radio-frequency remote control for the first time ever.
ATI RADEON X800 XL visual processing unit functions at 400MHz and features 16 pixel and 6 vertex pipelines. Typical graphics cards based on the technology are equipped with 256MB of GDDR3 memory clocked at 980MHz.
Like all the other AIW graphics cards, the newcomer comes with unique set of capabilities for home entertainment, including TV-ON-DEMAND, EAZYLOOK, MulTView, THRUVIEW and Gemstar GUIDE Plus+ as well as REMOTE WONDER II radio-frequency controller.
ATI All-In-Wonder X800 XL for PCI Express will be available later this summer with an MSRP of $399, ATI said. It is unclear who of ATI's partners will offer such products.
