nVidia appears ready to ship the C51 integated graphics chipset in September, to be followed later by a C60 Intel versionIntegrated graphics - nVidia style.
Remeber the old nForce 2 integrated video chipset for Socket A? nVidia is finally bringing out its successor for s754 and s939
The new C51 is rumoured to begin arriving on September 20th, and it will bring GeForce 6 series performance to on-board video.
The C51 is going to be very interesting as the memory controller for the Athlon is integrated with the CPU, so basically the C51 will have to request memory access via Hypertransport from the CPU. Or perhaps it will include a memory channel for local memory? That would be a VERY smart move for nVidia, and it would allow quite decent performance for the on-board video, as for all intents and purposes it would have private memory (shades of video cards) for itself!
Expected features include Gigabit Ethernet, SATA II, USB 2.0 and Firewire.
Sounds like a tasty combination. I just hope motherboard manufacturers integrate an S-Video output - would make a nice board for MythTV users :)
The C60 will be a version of the C51 for the Intel platform - at a guess it will add a Northbridge for dual channel memory support.
Lately nVidia's revenue's have been going up no doubt at least partially due to the success of its latest video cards - and the delays in the ATI R520 hitting the market.
