Intel issues denial of earlier reports of it discontinuing low end chipsets.

An Intel representative has clarified Intel's position with regards to production of low end chipsets - they are not being discontinued, however Intel is reducing production of those chipsets that are not in demand.

Presumably this means that if motherboard manufacturers keep ordering 915 variants, they will be able to get them - however if they are on 'backorder' or only available in limited quantities we will know what is really happening.

If VIA and SiS were looking for a bigger piece of the low end chipset pie, they may have to wait a bit longer.
