New Intel motherboard features two 480 pin sockets for Pentium M family processors.A photo obtained by the Inquirer shows two "Socket 480" sockets on an Intel branded motherboard. Two sockets for dual core Pentium M derived processors will make an interesting low end server board; however it will be limited by sharing the front side bus between four cores (two per processor).
An 800MHz FSB would provide for a theoretical maximum of 6.4GB/sec for all cores - contrast this with dual Opteron's getting up to 12.8GB/sec for four cores (if they use DDR400 dual channel memory for each processor, and up to 19.2GB/sec?if they use unnoficial DDR600 memory). If the Pentium M's stay with a 667MHz FSB, then the two dual core chips would share a maximum memory bandwidth of only 5.3GB/sec
