Nvidia Corp. has updated its family of graphics processors with the GeForce 7600- and the GeForce 7900-series product lines. The new chips increase speed of 3D processing in games for performance-mainstream and high-speed systems.

The GeForce 7600 GT graphics processor has 12 pixel shader units, 5 vertex shader units, is clocked at 560MHz and comes with 256MB of 128-bit 1400MHz GDDR3 memory. The GeForce 7900 GT and GTX products feature equal amount of functional units: 24 pixel processors, 8 vertex shader processors, but different clock-speeds: 450MHz/1320MHz and 650MHz/1600MHz for core/memory.

According to Nvidia, the new products will be relatively affordable compared to predecessors, the GeForce 7900 GTX should cost starting from $499, whereas the GeForce 7900 GT should cost starting from $249. Actual pricing may vary depending on the manufacturer.

Nvidia stated that many producers of add-in graphics cards, including Albatron, AOpen, Asustek Computer, BFG Technologies, Biostar, Chaintech Computer Co, Cheer Ascent, City Gate/Triple-D, Club3D, Elsa, Epsco, EVGA Corp., Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte Technology, Innovision, Jaton, Jetway, Leadtek Research, MSI Computer Corp., Palit Microsystems, Prolink, PNY Technology, Point of View, Sigmacom, Sparkle Computer and XFX will sell the GeFore 7900- and 7600-series products.
