Overclocking
The Ennyah PCX 6600 uses the same NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GPU (NV43) found in the GeForce 6600 GT. Therefore, we were reasonably confident that the GPU in the Ennyah card had a good chance of reaching the typical core speeds of a GeForce 6600 GT, which is 500MHz. As our overclocking attempts showed, we had underestimated the Ennyah PCX 6600. It managed to reach a stable speed of 590MHz in our testing and the resultant performance gain in 3DMark03 was a hefty 16%. The only major drawback in overclocking is that the Ennyah PCX 6600 is locked at 500MHz DDR for its frame buffer, which was a big letdown after getting a good speed boost for the GPU. Nevertheless, those who do not mind a bit of overclocking will find it worthwhile to do so and at the very least, help to overcome the inherent 50MHz memory speed handicap that the Ennyah suffers from.
