Samsung SyncMaster 910MP Review

Examining the specifications we can see that the display has a snappy 8ms response time, a high contrast ratio, and a good level of brightness. These are three key factors in television and movie viewing.

Here are a few other points of interest. First, the standard aspect ratio is 4:3, but using the on-screen display (OSD) the monitor can be toggled so that it will run at 16:9. The 160/160 viewing angles are good, but considering the increased chance of more than one person watching TV (relative to using a computer monitor) it would be nice if these could be improved a bit. It is sufficient though, considering the panel is only 19" viewable, so not that many people will be watching it. The display does not have a DVI input, so when you do use it you will be limited to your analog connection. Also note the lack of HDTV support.

The back of the display is clean and functional. In a stroke of genius, Samsung's designers provided a cut away area for the base to be fold into when the display is mounted. This allows the unit to be flush against a wall which will give is very nice looks, rather than appearing to be floating out in space.

Looking at the rear connections you can see the ANT IN, which is where your antenna/cable connection goes, then the headphone jack, S-Video, and then component AV-IN connections. The headphone jack placement is clearly Samsung's choice of form over function and though it would be much more useful on the front, it would be rather unsightly.

Moving down the line the EXT (RGB) connection can be found though the cable is not included. After this there is the PC audio and finally the VGA D-sub. The lack of a DVI connection is clearly proof that this is model is towards the lower end of Samsung's lineup. In fact, the next model up, the 930MP remedies this and has available HDTV support as well.
