Samsung SyncMaster 910MP Review

Since this display has such a robust feature set it must be able to control all the functions of a computer monitor and a LCD TV. This can be done in either of two ways- the front buttons or the remote control. The designers were smart enough to design the front buttons to have almost complete redundancy of the remote control's functions so if the remote is broke, lost, or out of batteries you can still operate the 910MP. The front buttons on the display are the standard ones that would be found on most any display, but the functions are sometimes a bit different. For example hitting the Source button will toggle between the computer and television, as opposed to between your DVI and analog inputs.

The included speakers are oddly placed below the LCD, making the monitor seem elongated and top-heavy. Speakers are often placed on the sides or, in some particularly well-conceived designs, in the base. By placing the speakers across the bottom the 910MP does save on width, a dimension that is usually in more demand than height on your desktop.

The remote is smartly designed and easy to use. Unlike many other remotes the important buttons are prominently placed and easy to find. The bottom keyboard incorporates a number of functions which would be awkward to use via the OSD. These include a zoom (up to 2x), freeze frame, and display auto-adjust.
