Dual PCIe 16x slots possible on Intel 955 chipset

Surprisingly motherboard vendors have been slow to take advantage of the possibility of providing two PCIe 16x slots on motherboards based on the Intel 955 chipset.

The 955 is fairly similar to the existing 945, the major differences being documented DDR2-667 and Pentium D cpu support. Mind you, existing 945 based boards usually support Pentium D processors already, and it would not be too surprising to see some with DDR2-667 support.

The dual PCIe x16 slots, once they arrive, will apparently need special support from the grahics card vendors.

Technically it will be nice to have two PCIe 16x slots as it does potentially provide increased bandwidth to the cards, however current generation software and cards are not likely to be able to take advantage of the increased bandwidth as even a single PCIe 16x slot card rarely saturates the bus.
