Overclocking Results

The GA-EP45T-Extreme holds up very well to its name. The results were quite extreme and while there were a few flaws remaining with the board, the overall performance was impressive. After using X48 boards exclusively it was quite refreshing to have a board that so willingly overclocked.

My E8400 has been severely degraded over the last few weeks but it still did moderately well with the GA-EP45T-Extreme in pulling a 588MHz FSB that was able to complete SuperPi 32M. I was able to bench SuperPi 1M at 612MHz FSB and suicide shot at 617MHz FSB with all voltages on auto except for Vcore and Vdimm.

As mentioned above, my E8400 is badly degraded, so the 4121MHz clockspeed done on air was rather low and 4300MHz would have been possible in the past with 1.425vcore. No matter though, this was still a full 1121MHz overclock for a 37% overclock.

For this test I brought out the E8600 and the K|ngp|n F1EE liquid nitrogen pot. Base temperatures were held around -104 Celsius to -102 Celsius throughout the tests. While this isn't anything close to a normal test, this just shows some of the capabilities of this board in Extreme settings.
