ATI Introduces New Graphics Chip Designed to Provide Flexible, Stable Display Capabilities for Servers

MARKHAM, ON/ Munich, Germany - March 1, 2005 -ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX: ATY, NASDAQ: ATYT) today introduced the ES1000, a flexible and stable graphics solution for the server and thin client markets. Because of ATI's expertise in delivering reliable graphics, many industry-leading OEMs have chosen ATI graphics as the preferred graphics solution for enterprise backbone products like servers for over six years. The ES1000 builds on ATI's strengths and reputation and delivers a new product that meets low power consumption and long life cycle requirements while delivering proven reliability.

"Historically, graphics needs for servers were met by using older, legacy desktop or notebook graphics solutions," said Peter Edinger, Vice President and Managing Director, ATI Technologies (Europe) GmbH. "With the input of major OEMs and platform developers, we have designed the ES1000 from the start to meet the unique requirements of the server environment."

The ES1000, a PCI-based graphics chip, is designed for server vendors which require products with strong support, reliability, longevity and low prices. The chip supports a variety of memory and display configurations, making it extremely flexible and suitable for a wide range of server platforms. When integrated into a server, either directly on the motherboard or as an add-in-card, the ES1000 provides stable and reliable display functionality for direct or remote server management. It also leverages CATALYST(tm), ATI's unified software suite, which undergoes ATI's rigorous product validation process and testing.

"Intel and ATI have worked closely to define the graphics requirements needed for next generation servers based on Intel Architecture, and the ES1000 is the culmination of this effort," said Tom Matson, Director of Marketing for the Enterprise Products and Services Division at Intel. "Products like ATI' ES1000 enable us to continue to offer more competitive building blocks for Intel?architecture-based server platforms."

"The next generation of server applications demand higher levels of graphics performance," said Don Clegg, VP of Marketing and OEM Alliances at Tyan Computer Corporation. "With the addition of ATI's ES1000 server graphics solution on the Tyan Thunder i7522 (S5362), our server customers will enjoy levels of graphics processing power previously unavailable to them."

The ES1000 will also be available in completely RoHS (a directive regulating hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) compliant chip and board designs to meet needs of OEMs and companies who are working towards lead-free products and RoHS compliance, demonstrating ATI's leadership in this area.

The ES1000 is currently being qualified by major OEMs for use in current and future server products. For more information on this product please visit http://www.ati.com.
