Dual northbridges to allow both K8 and Intel lineup on single motherboardDigiTimes has shots of a very cool mainboard from ECS - it can run processors from both Intel and K8 (albeit seperately) through the use of a converter card.
Both the P4 motherboard and K8 converter card use SiS northbridges, the SiS656 and SiS756 respectively. The motherboard supports up to 4 GB of dual-channel DDR2-667 memory. The SiS965 southbridge on the motherboard is used as part of both platforms. ...
The converter card uses a proprietary interface developed by ECS,?.. ,爐he interface isn't based on PCI Express technology.
Pricing was mentioned to be around the 70$ US mark for just the P4 board while the converter card is an additional 30$ or so which is still extremely attractive pricing. The converter card looks like it sits in a PCI slot like device and looks to be quite large.Article Link: Athlon 64 and P4 Combo Mainboard Shown by ECS
