Following ATI Technologies, NVIDIA Corp. has quietly rolled-out its new product targeting mainstream markets. Just like in the case of the GeForce 6800 LE, the company did not make any announcements on the matter, but just calmly let the partners start selling the new component called the GeForce 6800 XT.
General specifications of the GeForce 6800 XT resemble those of the GeForce 6800 LE, but the main difference is that the former is based on the code-named NV42 graphics processing unit (GPU) made using 110nm process technology at TSMC, whereas the latter may utilize NV40 or other chips. The model 6800 XT has 8 pixel and 4 vertex pipelines, the chip should be clocked at 325MHz, whereas memory should operate at 700MHz.
Graphics cards based on the GeForce 6800 XT from InnoVision Multimedia have emerged in several Japanese retail stores, Akiba PC Hotline reports. The products are priced from $168 to $171. Graphics cards are equipped with 128MB of GDDR2 memory, DVI-I, D-Sub and TV-Out connectors.
NVIDIA Corp. did not comment on the news-story, nor it did not respond to an earlier email seeking for official GeForce 6800 XT specs.
