A possible solution to backup woes: new holographic disk technology holds the promise of 1.6TB on one disk.Slashdot is running an interesting thread about Turner entertainment having completed a test of holographic storage from InPhase technologies. They stored 26 hours of HD content on a single 300GB disk, and demonstrated it at at InterBEE in Tokyo on November 16-18, 2005 in Japan.
Computer World describes the test HERE.
Apparantly this technology will scale to 1.6TB by 2010; which would allow for 142 hours of HD content on one disk - or backing up a fair sized server.
