News.com in a seven round matchup between Intel and AMD dual core processors found that the X2 series beat the D series every time. You know, sometimes seeing even real-world results seems like marketing fluff.
Even when it isn't.
News.com decided to run a comprehensive series of tests between Intel's and AMD's dual core offerings, and the results speak for themselves.
The AMD chips won all seven rounds.
Personally I love to see competition between the manufacturers, and want to see even better performing processors from Intel - as that will encourage AMD to outdo Intel :-) but for the moment, AMD dual cores are thoroughly dominating the performance gain.
With the four core Athlon's on the horizon for 2006 it will be interesting to see what Intel will ship to challange them.
