XMPEG 5.03 and DivX 5.1.1

Intel P4 660 & P4EE 3 73GHz Review

The DivX and XMPEG software utilizes the SSE3 instructions on the Pentium 4 line of processors, and thus they are able to leave the AMD line of processors behind.  Both the Intel 660 and the 3.73 GHz XE show nice gains in performance over their previous parts.

Intel P4 660 & P4EE 3 73GHz Review

There is no change from the Intel 560 to the 660, as the extra seems to make no difference here.  And also here we see one of the instances where the new 3.73 GHz XE is actually SLOWER than the 3.46 GHz XE processor, thanks to the change over to the Prescott core.

WinRAR

Intel P4 660 & P4EE 3 73GHz Review

That extra cache is doing some good here on the 660 processor as it cuts 20 seconds off of the compression time as does the 3.73 GHz XE processor.  Neither is able to catch the Athlon 64 FX-55 or even the 4000+ processor from AMD though.

PCMark04

Intel P4 660 & P4EE 3 73GHz Review

PCMark04 shows some decent gains on the 660 and 3.73 GHz processor from Intel, and we see here the AMD processors are left behind on this benchmark.
