Overclocking
On the bright side, the Leadtek WinFast PX6800 Ultra was capable of some very decent overclocking. For high-end cards like this, we usually find their allowance for overclocking to be rather limited without resorting to extreme cooling solutions. However, with the Leadtek card, we were able to go up to 450MHz for the core and 1150MHz DDR for its memory with a resultant performance gain of about 9% in 3DMark03. This makes us wonder why Leadtek did not follow the memory speed of 1100MHz DDR found in the reference design, especially since quite a few other vendors, like Gigabyte and ASUS, offer GeForce 6800 Ultra cards clocked at 425MHz for their GPUs. Probably, the long-term effects of running at 1100MHz may not have been desirable from Leadtek's point of view.
