Results ?Doom 3 (DirectX 9 Benchmark)
Doom 3 boasts of an Ultra High Quality mode that should theoretically favor the Leadtek WinFast PX6800 Ultra due to its higher amount of memory. The impact of the extra memory was less than expected, as at the normal High Quality mode, the NVIDIA reference card was a fraction faster. At Ultra High Quality, there is effectively another tie between the two cards. In short, we could not find any inherent advantage of having 512MB of frame buffer, even for Doom 3. The slightly slower clock speed of the Leadtek card, coupled with its memory bus bottleneck, is probably again the albatross around its neck.
