Albatron Trinity GeForce 6800 Review

[Abstract]
The graphics card market is crowded with numerous products from both ATI and NVIDIA. We have X800SE, X800 Pro, X800 XT, and X800 XT PE from ATI and 6800LE, 6800, 6800 GT, and 6800 Ultra (not as...

Final Words...

Without a surprise, Albatron Trinity 6800 performs right on par with its competition. While the X800 Pro excels in majority of the cards, Albatron has to answer to its competition. We don’t have anything extraordinary to comment on about Albatron’s Trinity 6800. All we can say is that Albatron is neck-to-neck with its competition.

The physical side of things may also attract many users towards the card. It is one of the best looking cards in the market, as it offers something that others don’t ?the fine, sleekness of the heatsink and fan combo.

The most important aspect of this evaluation is determining the card’s value in the market. And this can only be done with Albatron’s packaging and their price point. At first, we were excited to see the bundle of software, but our hopes were quickly turned down when five of the games were demos and the full version game can’t match today’s image quality and realistic gaming standards. That being said, WinDVD Creator is a great addition to the package value and gains few points for Albatron.

After searching few online retailers, we found the card to be around $283.00. While majority of the 6800 Vanillas retail around $293.00, Albatron has about $10.00 or 3.5 percent price advantage over its competition, Gigabyte 6800. Thus far, Gigabyte and Chaintech offers the best package value, but since Chaintech increase their price by $20.00 for a 10% factory overclock, we decided to go with Gigabyte’s 6800 Vanilla offering. A 3.5 percent price point between Albatron and Gigabyte is something for budget conscious users to look towards. Also, the package wouldn’t exactly excite users who are not interested in playing the included games.

If you are looking for a 6800 Vanilla that performs well and costs less than its competition, Albatron Trinity is the one to get. We just wish manufacturers could sweeten the deal even more with a few valuable software titles.
